BBC standard after the elections?

Republikon Intézet

One of the Republikon Institute’s key projects last year was an 11-month monitoring of public media. Between February and December, we reviewed and analyzed all of M1’s 7:30 p.m. news broadcasts and concluded that, based on our findings, the public media operated by MTVA does not meet public service standards. However, since Tisza won the election, a great many unusual things have been happening in the public media studios—things that viewers would previously have considered anomalies. The question is whether this signals a genuine change, or whether the public media is simply shifting toward a more sophisticated form of propaganda?

To determine this, Republikon has once again begun monitoring public media, analyzing the 7:30 p.m. M1 news broadcasts from the week following the election—specifically, those aired between April 13 and 19. We will use the same period in 2025 as a basis for comparison. So let’s see how much public media has changed over the course of a year.
